jeffrothegreat DJ4AM is a lot of the reason I love music the way I do. He was a good friend of mine in high school and his mixtapes introduced me to way more music that I could even begin to describe in this comment. The musical tastes I have come from a mix of his influence and my dad‘s and I’ll never forget that and I think them both deeply.

about

The Tower District in the late 90's... Fresno, California.
Long conversations about society and art with Gary while I cleaned records down at Spinners.
4 records for a dollar down at Neighborhood Thrift... then one day the roof caved in and the place was demolished.
DJ sets with the Beat Dynasty at Zapps Park, Veni Vidi Vici, Club Fred, KFSR 90.7.
The Ahh Yeah Poetry Crew at Java Cafe.
Shows with DLF and Sleep One at Starline...

All the while attempting to make hip-hop, formulating a style and code of ethics.

These tracks were submitted to my old friend Chrys Geringer for possible inclusion on his ongoing "Cultivation" CD series. An MPC2000 version of "Baby" made V4. The rest of these songs sat in a box at his house, spread out over two cassette tapes, unplayed for over 22 years.

Most of these tracks were one take Jakes shot straight to tape from a Roland MS1 phrase sampler through a Gemini PMX7 mixer with occasional vinyl overdubs. The rest are 2 track stereo straight outta the MPC2000. Here they are again in all their repetitive, meditative, static ridden, tape hiss saturated glory.

Many thanks for listening.
